quepos costa rica

Beaches in Costa Rica is one of the most important assets of the country in regard to tourism.

Costa Rica has since many years worked hard to save the rainforest and in recent years has begun to do the same with their beaches.

The west coast of Costa Rica, with beaches like Jaco, Quepos, Manuel Antonio, Puntarenas, Playa Conchal, Playas de Coco, Playa Hermosa, Playa tamarindo, and many others, is a complete tourist, fishing and surfers heaven.

You can literally walk from one beach to the next in a many places, and it is still possible to find small sandy beaches with coconut palms where you can be alone or spend a good time with someone.

Something to consider when visiting the beaches of Costa Rica is the growing interest of keeping the beach clean and welcoming. Waste Baskets often can be found on the beach or nearby, and regular testing of drinking nothing but water, but only seawater also have begun in many of the most visited beaches.

Tourism has not only brought good things. Real Estate has become really big, especially on the beach. Land prices and construction are fantasy sums being sold each day and new condos, beach houses and hotels will only appear from nowhere to the need remains for more places to visit host tourists.

Puntarenas, one of the closest beaches to San Jose is a good example. Puntarenas has never been known to have special beaches. But because it is very close (approximately 2 hours by car) to the capital, San Jose, has beaches around Puntarenas increased in value.

Many of high-class resort hotels including Fiesta Resort (All inclusive) can be found there.

Some of the most beautiful beaches, and probably less expensive are attracting surfers. This, like the waves makes it less attractive for swimming and relaxing, and this makes the beach less attractive to the ordinary tourist.

So when visiting Costa Rica, make sure to visit at least some of the beaches like Playa Hermosa, Playa Manuel Antonio (with its 3 beaches and protected forests) and if time permitted to go to the east coast (Caribbean side) and beaches such as Playa Cahuita and Puerto Viejo. The contrast is great and spice up your experience of beach in Costa Rica.
