1502 Christopher Columbus called Costa Rica (Costa Rica) In 1824 the capital moved from Carthage to San Jose, Battle of Santa Rosa, March 1856 (CR fought to get conquered by William Walker) from March 12 to April 24, 1948 there was a civil war of 44 days (2,000 dead) In 1949 President José Figueres Ferrer abolished the army.
