New York's JFK Airport is the largest city and an arrival can be a bit overwhelming for a passenger again. Fortunately, the airport is well signed and well connected to Manhattan by public transportation. So if you arrive at JFK and not lucky enough to have a walk-out, you will still be able to do Manhattan using any of the following options.
Car Service companies
These companies let you rent a car, van, minivan or even a limousine in advance. They will be at the airport waiting for you when you arrive and take you directly to their destination. You must add the tolls and rates parking, and a tip at the top price, but this method of transport could still work out to be affordable if you have a large group of travelers.
Express Bus
Buses leave from JFK airport every 30 minutes between 6 am and 11 pm. Passenger Drop Buses outside Grand Central Station New York Port Authority Bus Terminal and Penn Station. This method is cheap, but if traffic is heavy it will take time.
Helicopter
Forget limousines, if you really want to travel in style to take a helicopter from JFK to Manhattan. U.S. Helicopter has a service between the airport and the center (at East 34th Street) and downtown (at 6 East River Piers). You are limited to a small piece of luggage is expensive but only takes 10 minutes from Manhattan.
Bus service
Shuttle bus services offer shared rides from JFK to Manhattan. This means you can have several stops at other hotels before arriving at their final destination. If you are a person of this service has a good relationship, but if you are more than a taxi can be a better option.
Metro
JFK Airport is connected the subway system by New York Airtrain that leaves passengers, either in any of the broadcast stations in Jamaica or Howard Beach. From here you can get anywhere going underground, including Manhattan. This option is cheap and lets you avoid traffic but if you travel at rush hour and have a lot of baggage that can be a bit stressful.
Taxi
Taxis are available outside each terminal at JFK, usually in a taxi. Taxis work with a fixed rate in Manhattan, but tolls and tip. Works to be economically, if you have three or four people traveling and not a lot of baggage.
Kirsty has spent some time living in New York has done many trips from JFK Airport to Manhattan and hopes her advice will help other travelers.
